First donations for Community Center
The first donations for the new Vision Community Center (VCC) in Macha are committed. The VCC will support starting enterpreneurs with business space, workshop facilities and financial programs. NCDO provides matching funding for donations up to 50.000 euro.

Here they are: the Macha Heroes
The new soccer team in Macha, the Macha Heroes, have made an exceptional strong start. The team only contains workers from Macha Works and the hospital. Since the team came together they haven't lost any game against teams that play in 3rd and 2nd competition.

Computer lab for Nurses Mukinge
The new computer lab for the Nurse Training School in Mukinge is ready. 50 internet connected computers are placed in the class room for the roughly 100 nursing teachers. NTS Mukinge coordinates the overal NTS for Macha Works in Zambia.

7 years license for Radio Macha
Radio Macha has rlicense of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. This is acceptional news and underlines the importance of the rural radio station although it sounds as business as usual. Radio Macha is the only source of information for many people.

BBC Click program visits Macha
The BBC Click team has visited Macha and Chikanta. In the program they show the impact that internet connectivity has within rural communities. They spent specific attention to the capabilities of LinkNet to raise enough local income to sustain the business.

Electricity for Habulile Basic School
The Dutch Global Durability Fund donates 10.000 euro for a local bio-gas generator for the Habulile primary school in Chikanta. Chikanta is based at 40 kilometer from the national electricitygrid in Zambia and the generator offers access to lightning and internet connectivity.

Care House opens the doors
The new Care House is ready and will offer transitional care to Aids patients that are dismissed from the hospital. These patients are often not ready to live the disciplined life back home. The professionals coordinate the transition back home with health professionals around the hospital.

Huisman Foundation sponsors Jatropha project
The Jatropha outreach project will provide 30 famers around Macha with sufficient Jatropha seeds to grow sufficient bio oil themselves. Huisman Foundation supports outreach project with 15.000 euro.
