ePiano lessons across 8.000 miles

Every child deserves a chance to discover the delight of expressing the inexpressible through a musical instrument, , to stimulate his/her intellect, and to develop skills like creativity, discipline, and perseverance.
In resource-limited environments like Macha, those opportunities are sparse. But internet has made another valuable connection.

A unique e-learning relationship between two nine year-old girls in Macha and a music educator in North America and the internet offer them the chance to learn to play the piano. The teacher and student connect via the internet for real-time lessons on a weekly basis, communicating through video-conferencing and direct MIDI connection between pianos. Pre-recorded videos are supplementing live communication across these 8.000 miles, allowing learning to continue through time-shifted means even when the Internet connection is weak.

In the hopes of inspiring individual and collective potential, we offer children in rural Zambia the chance to experience the joy and fulfilment of making music.
