Test & Treat Aids and TB
AIDS, Malaria and TB are three major infectious diseases in rural Zambia. The Macha Mission Hospital (MMH) and the medical research institute MRT work closely together in the communities around the hospital in the fight against these diseases. The combination of clinical research and medical care has shown clear results in Macha. Since 2003, for example, the number of malaria patients reduced by 90%. Macha Works has supported both organiations to build new facilities like an HIV clinic (now more than 3,000 patients), a clinical laboratory and a House Care for Aids patients. They care hoiuse provides transitional care for patients who are discharged from the hospital but not yet strong enough to livethe disciplined life independently. Macha Works supports the ambition of the two organizations and seeks sponsors for the further development and establishment of research and clinical facilities.
