It is hard for children from rural areas when they are in hospital for a long period of time. Hospitals usually have only very few facilities and are not able to organise fun activities for the children. In order to change this, a new building housing a children’s activity centre was built in 2008.. The Playroom is a combination of a crèche and an infant welfare centre. The children can play here during the day and the children's parents get support. It's amazing to see how quickly children get new energy again. You hardly recognize the children after the first week. While the children are playing, the parents are guided through the often difficult phase when one of their children is hospitalised for a longer period. The parents see how their children can be stimulated. Although the Playroom is very much valued in the community, the hospital is not yet able to take over the operations or fund expansions of the small building. The growing number of children require the expansion of the building.
