Give a child access to quality education
Macha Innovative Community School (MICS) is an ambitious rural school in Macha. The traditional class room teaching is supplemented by self teaching modules on the computer. The children are therefore able to play and learn individually. The knowledge of the English language in the Zambian education is essential because the exams are conducted in this language. Improper command of English is a major reason that children fail the exam because they simply do not understand the questions. MICS has proven that children without any English knowledge can learn how to read and write the language within two years. This is unique in rural Zambia. MICS is therefore now an example to other schools in rural areas and there is much interest among parents to join MICS. But the limited tuition fee per term for some parents is a major obstacle to get access to quality education for their child.
